I have noticed that Wal-mart is scamming people.  For the last few months Wal-Mart has raised their prices a lot.  Every time I go to buy something the price is higher.  I used to buy these chocolate chip muffins, that came in a box of 12.  When I first started buying them there were $2.  Then they went to $2.50.  Then in January they went to $3.  I quit buying them.  It is like that for every food item in the store.  Their milk cost more than the local grocery store.  A bag of frozen chicken breasts is $8.  Their hamburger buns used to be 88 ¢, the other day I bought some, they were $1.18.

Now they started this advertisement blitz “We are rolling back prices all over the store.”

“Oh really, how wonderful  You didn’t advertise that you were raising the prices all over the store so you can say you lower them.”

I don’t know if they think people are stupid or what.  I don’t buy that much at Wal-Mart anymore.  Even thought they blast on TV that they are cheaper, and in the store that they are cheaper.  They aren’t.  There might be a bargain somewhere, but for the most part they are just the same or higher than other places.

Kroger just built a giant new grocery store in my area that I shop at.  I was looking forward to a nice, big new store.  Then it opened.  I noticed that all the food was priced higher.  I used to love shopping there, but not anymore.  I do buy my hamburger there, because I think it tastes the best.  BUT…….they changed their store brand bread.  It used to be my favorite and it was 99 ¢.  After the new store opened, they raised it to $1.35.  They made the loaf smaller and when you use the bread, it falls apart and has big holes in it.  They must have changed bread companies, kept the wrapper and raised the price.  I quit buying their bread.  I used to buy a french bread loaf, the kind they bake fresh daily.  They used to be 99 cents in every store in town.  Albertsons always had it up by the registers, baked hot at 4PM.   Well Kroger raised their price on the bread, it is now $1.99 a loaf.  It does not taste very fresh either.

I am just tired of the pricing games these store play.  They constantly raise the prices on food.  I like to buy Bush’s baked beans in a can.  One can now costs $1.38.  Now I am looking for a bargain for food.  I discovered Dollar General Market has some great buys.  They have 3 pound bags of frozen chicken breasts for $5.  Remember I said Wal-mart is $8.  I buy it at Dollar General store now.  I buy ham steak slices for $2.50.  I buy pork chops, Tyson brand for about $3.  They are $5 and up at other stores.

I also discovered Aldi market.  It is a small store, but they have some great buys.  A gallon of milk there is $2.18.  It is $2.68 at Wal-mart, (the roll back prices, saves you money store).  The 3 pound bag of frozen chicken breasts at Aldi is $6.18, but still it is cheaper than Wal-Mart, but higher than Dollar General Market.

I got several boxes of this delicious pumpkin bread mix.  They were a dollar cheaper, a box,  than the grocery store.  I got a container of strawberries for 99¢.  I got a case of their cola for $4.48.  By the way, their brand of cola tastes really good.  I am not paying double for the name brands anymore, besides they now taste like crap, no flavor Coke.

Oh, and their brand of baked beans, taste exactly like Bush’s baked beans.  It even says on the can “Compare to Bush’s beans”.  They cost 58¢  a can.  I bought two cans and brought them home and tried them.  They were good.  I always doctor them up and bake them.  I put in a squirt of ketchup, mustard, dried onion flakes, brown sugar, a squirt of honey and a splash of  worcestershire sauce and bake them for 1 hour.

Anyway, I am just saying that just because Wal-Mart says they lowered prices all over the store is because they had just raised prices all over the store since January, so they could lower them and then they are probably still higher than the price that was priced originally.  Don’t be fooled by their scam and shop around, there are better deals to be found than Wal-Mart.

The only thing with Aldi is they only have one checker and they don’t bag your food.  But I don’t care.  I try to go there when it is not busy, like not on the weekends.
