The clouds were growing in the sky. Turning a dark grey color. Lightening shooting across the sky. Thunder booming across the atmosphere. We stopped in at Costco and the parking lot was packed. It is Tuesday, what is up with all these cars. We had just came from Sam’s Club and there was hardly any shoppers. Costco was a different story. You could hardly walk around, there were so many people in there. There were a large amount of old people shopping. Everybody was old. Like 80 years old. They all had their shopping carts full. The snow birds have arrived. They all come from Canada and other cold places to be in the heat of the desert. I guess October is the magic number. There were very long lines at the cash registers. Costco must be happy. I guess they all hate Sam’s Club because I have noticed that not very many people shop at Sam’s Club around here.
I did buy some dates, Medjool Dates. I saw this show on TV the
other day about these dates that were grown in Palm Springs California. I guess the date trees are down in this canyon and they are supposedly the best dates grown. I wrote down the name Medjool and when I saw them, I bought them. I love dates. I guess they ship them all over the world. I got them at Sam’s Club.
Then when we went over to Costco we saw some different dates.
Hadley dates. This lady told my husband that those were really good dates, better than the medjool dates, so we got those too. We wanted to see which one tasted better.
After we got home, I opened both containers. I tried them both.
The Medjool dates are so good. They are softer and taste like a sweet, delicious candy. They have a brown sugar taste to them. It just brought back the memory of when I was little and what I remembered what dates taste like and the candy my mom used to make with them. They were my favorite taste.
Then I tried the Hadley. They were dry and a little tuff and had hardly any flavor at all. They just have a hint of date taste. They are not very good. We threw them away. They were not even worth eating. The Medjool are like a party of wonderful flavor in your mouth. I am going to have to go find a recipe for date bread.
Shhhhhh! Don’t tell anybody, but it’s bedtime, and I think I will sneak out to the kitchen (everyone is asleep in bed) and get me a date to eat…..just one.
Its good to sneak off for food when everyone is asleep ;o)

Have you ever watched Nigella. She ends her cooking show by going to the fridge at night.
I don’t ever eat before bed, sometimes I will go get a pretzel cracker when I watch TV.
