Slow cooker corned beef and cabbage.

I cooked corned beef and cabbage in the slow cooker. I love that thing. The food tastes so delicious. First I put a cut up onion in the bottom of the pot. Then chop up carrots so the meat sits on it. It gets it off the bottom of the pot. Trim all the fat off the corned beef. There is a big layer of at on the meat. Ewwwww, just cut it off. The meat I bought was called the flat cut. I noticed that the meat shrinks up  a lot almost by a half. It was still plenty for us to eat. Ok, back to how I made it. After you put the meat in the pot, sprinkle on the little package of spices that come with it. Then fill the pot with water, with enough to cover the meat. I then put in some small round potatoes and carrots. Cook it on high for 1 hour. I do that so the stuff gets hot inside. Then I cooked it on low for 7 hours. After 6 hours cut up your cabbage in wedges, cut out the core. Nobody wants to eat that. Put the cabbage in the pot, I push it halfway into the water. Cover the pot and continue cooking for 2 hours. When it is done my husband slices the corned beef with an electric knife in thin slices and serves it with horse radish sauce. Yummmm.  It is so tender and delicious.

The next day I took the left over corned beef and cut it into little pieces and I saved the potatoes and cut them up too. I cut a little onion too and cooked it all in a fry pan with some butter. It was so good for breakfast.

So I got two good meals out of this little $8.50 corned beef.

I love to make videos, cooking ones and legos ones. I like to draw and paint and make crafts and read blogs. I have a Nikon D80. I also use my new Canon Rebel. I don't really notice not much difference in pictures between the Nikon D80 but I bought for the video use. You can not use Nikon to make a video, it is not on the camera.

  1. In France beef cooked with carrot is called ” beuf-mode ” . But here it is corned beef . This is different . I posted once on WordPress about corned beef. I like this and at watching your photos I have the water in my mouth. 🙂
    Love ❤

  2. Corned beef is kind of different tasting than regular beef. I usually don’t like it but it comes out tender in the slow cooker and I love it. I don’t like it in restaurants.

  3. My son in law is Irish and his parents cook it all the time and I love it, but I have never made it… Seems easy in the slow cooker, I may just try it out…
