It has been a couple of weeks since I wrote on Weekend coffee share. The wild horses came to my street and had a little tiff, so I posted pictures about that. Then I decided to get an adjustable bed, so I wrote about that. The bed I had was in great shape. The guys that delivered my new bed said they would take my old mattress away for me.

It was a good mattress but I have nowhere to store it. The website for the store said they do not take your old mattress away, but the guys said if it looks as good as mine they would do it. I didn’t even have to ask them to take it. They offered. They probably want it for themselves. It is only a little over a year old. So anyway….I got my new adjustable bed. I really like how I can raise it up to lean against to read a book in bed. It works great for sleeping on too. I am surprised that I wake up and my back does not hurt. The bed is harder than my old bed though. I sleep great on it.

I was looking at kindle books on Amazon and decided to run free kindle books. A lot came up so I scrolled thought and got a lot of free books to read. I like that deal. I clicked on one book that is free. It is a cookbook called Crockpot Dump Meals by Daniel Cook. I was glancing through the recipes and looked at this one.

Chicken Broccoli Alfredo

4-6 boneless chicken breasts, 1 16 ounce bag frozen broccoli florets. 2 16 ounce jars of Alfredo sauce, 1 large green pepper chopped, 1 4oz can sliced mushrooms drained.

Directions:  Place all ingredients in crockpot and cook on low for 4-6 hours.

That is it for directions. No pictures at all in this cookbook. It would have been nice to see a picture of it to see if I wanted to make this. It says to use 2 – 16 ounce jars of Alfredo sauce. Gross…it would be a giant pot of glop. In a slow cooker you don’t need a lot of liquid. One jar of Alfredo sauce would be plenty. I have used mushrooms in a beef stew I make in a slow cooker. They come out rubbery, like chewing rubber bands…..just saying.

There were only 2 reviews on it on Amazon and one was 1 star bad. It was free but I might delete it from my books. I like pictures on my cook books.

My son graduated from high school. They held the graduation at the college basketball stadium. It was so cold in there. I bet it was 50 degrees. We were freezing. I wished I had worn my down coat and gloves and hat. They had the lights down so low. Only the stage was lit up. They had a big screen so you could at least see the people. It was so dark I had to take a picture of the screen when he got his diploma because it was so dark in there you could not take pictures and have them come out with your camera.

but it did come out with lines like your pictures look when you take a picture of something on TV. He did not let me take any good pictures of him. He threw away his cap and gown when he got home. I got it out of the trash can and said he would have to put it on and hold his diploma for me to get a good picture. He won’t do it so this is all I have. He does not care about pictures of him.

We bought a used vehicle. We need a vehicle to tow behind our motorhome. I saw a jeep parked on the street with a for sale sign on it. I called and a woman came to it and let my husband drive it. It is a 2003 Jeep Liberty. We made a deal and bought it. The lady said “Take good care of it, it is so special to me.”  So we take it home. We took it to have the tires balanced and the guy said the tires are so worn on the back that they can’t be balanced. She said “The tires are new, I just bought them a year ago”. The year date on the tires is 2012, 4 years ago. The spare tire is 2003. It looks like it is so dried out I would be afraid to drive on that thing. I looked up how old it is to be safe to drive on tires. It says never to drive on a tire older than 6 years. We ordered 5 new tires at Walmart. We are waiting for them to come.

The driver side visor mirror was broken. It has a light up mirror on the visor and someone must have broke it with a fist or hammer. Who does that? It was so dirty inside. It took me days to clean it. We were sitting in it yesterday and my husband said to clean the ceiling the material over the driver side, it is all stained like someone shook a coke and it spewed all over the material and stained it. The leather seats are all cracked with cigarette burns in it and rips on the side. The head lights are so frosted over, I don’t know how they could see light at night. We ordered new head lights. My husband ordered new brakes and is out in the garage putting them on. She only had 1 key so I had to have a new key made and they are programmed keys so I had to pay $59 at Walmart for another key. One key shop I called wanted $175 for a key to be made and programmed.

The shocks that hold open the hood did not hold so we ordered new ones and my husband put them on. We also put new shocks on the back window because it would not stay up.

We replaced the head lights so they are nice and clear. We had the new tires put on the car. My husband  put on the new brakes. They work so good now. It is coming along.

It is just a joke that the woman said “Oh please take good care of my car”, when she didn’t do it herself.

Let me know if you participate in the coffee share and I will come to your blog.

  1. Buying a new (used) car is always hit or miss, isn’t it? You hold your breath and hope there is not some expensive hidden problem. I hope all the minor fixes bring this one up to par. My daughter graduated HS this past week also. Her ceremony was outdoors on the football field which is the tradition around here. There were only 120 graduates so it was short and sweet and all the seats were good. She let us take lots of photos but girls are different about that sometimes! Good luck and congratulations to your son.

    1. It took about 3 hours. The graduation was SO long. I asked why it was so cold in there. The guys outside said, “Oh it gets hot down on the floor so they make it cold. I wish it was short and outside. Would have been nice. He had a class of 375.

  2. Congratulations on yoir son’s graduation. Mine had his “promotion” in May and starts high school in the fall. We recently went thru the “fun” of buying a used car…. One we looked at the guy was trying to tell us all the work he’d done but he had no receipts and it didn’t look like the work had been done. Another couldn’t even be bothered to clean up inside the car so it had those pine needle like leaves in it, plus a bunch of junk…. Oyyyy, people. We did find a vehicle that was clean & well maintained. Hope the clean up and fixing of the new to you vehicle goes well.
