It is another Weekend coffee share. If we were having coffee I would give you a monster doughnut that my husband bought a box of from this doughnut shop about 3 miles away. Their doughnuts are so big and so good. It is actually too big. I can only eat part of it. Why would they make them so monster size? It is a sugar over load when you eat one. We bought 6 and the girl put 3 more giant ones in a bag and gave it to us. Why? I don’t really know why she did that.

We took our kayak to Boca lake, it is up in the mountains on the way to Truckee, CA. There are 2 reservoirs there, Boca and Stampede, up higher the mountain. The water was really low last year. This year it snowed and rained a lot so the lake looks full. It was so pretty. We drove up right to the water and parked. They have a dirt road by it, it is a day use area.

We bought the orange kayak a year ago and have never used it. The water was so low around here from the drought last year. When we went to TX at Christmas, it was so windy and wavy I was afraid to even try it.

My son got in it first and took to paddling the kayak, really fast. He decided to paddle all the way across the lake and back.

DSCN1381 (2)ub

We sat by the car and I made egg salad sandwiches. It was so dry and a little breeze was blowing. It was 90 degrees. The bread dried out as fast as I was spreading on the egg salad. So much for soft bread. It was like eating almost toast bread. Not great.

Pretty soon my son came back.

DSCN1402uh

Then my husband tried the kayak. It was wobbling for a while until he got used to keeping it balanced.

DSCN1392 (2)

I tried it out. It was fun but it was hard for me to get out of. My knees are not that great that I can’t push up off the kayak to stand up. I said I wanted to buy another kayak because my son said it is not fun to paddle around by yourself.

We bought one at Sam’s Club but when we were going out the door I noticed it had a big dent on the side and a cut on it. I was not going to put that in the water so we walked back in and returned it. The only other place they had one like it was at Sam’s Club in Sacramento, Ca. We drove there the next day and bought the red one. It is a sit on kayak and way more stable than the sit in one. Plus if you fall off it would be easier to get back on the sit on one. Here is the red one we bought.

DSCN1410ub

We took it to a little lake at Washoe State park lake. The lake is all dried up but there is a little lake about 3 to 4 feet deep. We put it in the water there and all tried it out. It is very stable and easy to paddle. My son said that he wanted the red one and that he would never used the orange one again. I put the orange kayak on Craigs list and sold it the next morning. I went to Big 5 sporting goods store and bought a yellow one like the red one. It is 8 foot and I love the yellow. I was reading about it and the 8 foot one is flatter and easy to put in the storage on the motorhome. The red one is 8.5 feet. So it would not fit in the motor home. We then took it back to Sam’s Club and went back to Big 5 and bought two more yellow kayaks. One for each of us.  They are flat on the bottom and stand up next to each other. It is easy to get on and off of. Extremely stable and fun to use. I am happy we found them because they are hard to find in the stores right now. Plus Big 5 had a coupon online for 10 percent off, even better. They are Lifetime 8 foot Lotus sit on kayaks.

DSC_0003ub

Here is all 3 stacked up, waiting to be used. We will go try them out next week.

It has been a couple of weeks since I wrote on Weekend coffee share. The wild horses came to my street and had a little tiff, so I posted pictures about that. Then I decided to get an adjustable bed, so I wrote about that. The bed I had was in great shape. The guys that delivered my new bed said they would take my old mattress away for me.

It was a good mattress but I have nowhere to store it. The website for the store said they do not take your old mattress away, but the guys said if it looks as good as mine they would do it. I didn’t even have to ask them to take it. They offered. They probably want it for themselves. It is only a little over a year old. So anyway….I got my new adjustable bed. I really like how I can raise it up to lean against to read a book in bed. It works great for sleeping on too. I am surprised that I wake up and my back does not hurt. The bed is harder than my old bed though. I sleep great on it.

—————————————–

I was looking at kindle books on Amazon and decided to run free kindle books. A lot came up so I scrolled thought and got a lot of free books to read. I like that deal. I clicked on one book that is free. It is a cookbook called Crockpot Dump Meals by Daniel Cook. I was glancing through the recipes and looked at this one.

Chicken Broccoli Alfredo

4-6 boneless chicken breasts, 1 16 ounce bag frozen broccoli florets. 2 16 ounce jars of Alfredo sauce, 1 large green pepper chopped, 1 4oz can sliced mushrooms drained.

Directions:  Place all ingredients in crockpot and cook on low for 4-6 hours.

That is it for directions. No pictures at all in this cookbook. It would have been nice to see a picture of it to see if I wanted to make this. It says to use 2 – 16 ounce jars of Alfredo sauce. Gross…it would be a giant pot of glop. In a slow cooker you don’t need a lot of liquid. One jar of Alfredo sauce would be plenty. I have used mushrooms in a beef stew I make in a slow cooker. They come out rubbery, like chewing rubber bands…..just saying.

There were only 2 reviews on it on Amazon and one was 1 star bad. It was free but I might delete it from my books. I like pictures on my cook books.

My son graduated from high school. They held the graduation at the college basketball stadium. It was so cold in there. I bet it was 50 degrees. We were freezing. I wished I had worn my down coat and gloves and hat. They had the lights down so low. Only the stage was lit up. They had a big screen so you could at least see the people. It was so dark I had to take a picture of the screen when he got his diploma because it was so dark in there you could not take pictures and have them come out with your camera.

DSC_0019st

but it did come out with lines like your pictures look when you take a picture of something on TV. He did not let me take any good pictures of him. He threw away his cap and gown when he got home. I got it out of the trash can and said he would have to put it on and hold his diploma for me to get a good picture. He won’t do it so this is all I have. He does not care about pictures of him.

We bought a used vehicle. We need a vehicle to tow behind our motorhome. I saw a jeep parked on the street with a for sale sign on it. I called and a woman came to it and let my husband drive it. It is a 2003 Jeep Liberty. We made a deal and bought it. The lady said “Take good care of it, it is so special to me.”  So we take it home. We took it to have the tires balanced and the guy said the tires are so worn on the back that they can’t be balanced. She said “The tires are new, I just bought them a year ago”. The year date on the tires is 2012, 4 years ago. The spare tire is 2003. It looks like it is so dried out I would be afraid to drive on that thing. I looked up how old it is to be safe to drive on tires. It says never to drive on a tire older than 6 years. We ordered 5 new tires at Walmart. We are waiting for them to come.

The driver side visor mirror was broken. It has a light up mirror on the visor and someone must have broke it with a fist or hammer. Who does that? It was so dirty inside. It took me days to clean it. We were sitting in it yesterday and my husband said to clean the ceiling the material over the driver side, it is all stained like someone shook a coke and it spewed all over the material and stained it. The leather seats are all cracked with cigarette burns in it and rips on the side. The head lights are so frosted over, I don’t know how they could see light at night. We ordered new head lights. My husband ordered new brakes and is out in the garage putting them on. She only had 1 key so I had to have a new key made and they are programmed keys so I had to pay $59 at Walmart for another key. One key shop I called wanted $175 for a key to be made and programmed.

The shocks that hold open the hood did not hold so we ordered new ones and my husband put them on. We also put new shocks on the back window because it would not stay up.

We replaced the head lights so they are nice and clear. We had the new tires put on the car. My husband  put on the new brakes. They work so good now. It is coming along.

It is just a joke that the woman said “Oh please take good care of my car”, when she didn’t do it herself.

Let me know if you participate in the coffee share and I will come to your blog.

If we were having coffee we would talk about our week. My son graduates next week. He got his yearbook Friday. I looked at it. Everybody looked nice except one girl. She had really green hair. Why would her mother take her to the photography studio with clown hair. She will forever be remembered with green hair. I took a picture of it to show you. I did block her face. I don’t want to publish her face.

DSCN1324 (2)rs

We got his cap and gown. It is navy blue. I ordered a navy blue tie for him to wear. He has to wear a dress shirt and tie and dress pants and dress shoes. He graduated at 8AM next Saturday. I have to have him at the place at 7 AM. Ugggg, the last time I have to get up early. Yipeeee.

======================================================

My husband ordered some vinyl to finish the patio in the back of the house. It is coming out so nice. He worked on it all day and one half is done.

DSCN1327 (2)u

=====================================================

I made nachos the other night so I put the nachos in the oven and turned on the time for 10 minutes to melt the cheese. I took them out of the oven and it was still cold. The oven broke. Darn.  It is a Whirlpool Gold double oven. It is 4 years old and now it won’t work. My husband had it all apart and checked it out and ordered an igniter part. The part won’t be here for 2 weeks. Don’t buy a Whirlpool gold double oven. The top oven still works but it is small.

======================================================

I had to redo the dog leash I made. My son said it was too long and dragged on the ground. The part I drew on with a permanent marker stained his hand. I cut the leash shorter and then taped the handle part with green tape. His school colors is green and blue. That is why I used those colors on the leash. The next time he walks the dog I will see if it works for him. It is funny….I got the lease and was working on it. My dog was going bonkers because I had it. She thought she was going to go for a walk.

DSCN1321u

Well, I have to go fold up laundry. That is a never ending job.

It is the weekend coffee share time again. Welcome back or just welcome if this is your first time. Let me tell you about my dog leash making experience. My son took my dog for a walk and he said the Leash broke. I went to Walmart to get a new one so I picked one out for $6.48. I checked the price and decided on this one that glows in the dark. When I went to pay for it, it rang up for $1 higher, $7.48. I told the cashier it was marked cheaper and it rang up higher. See…I hate that things ring up different. Back in the old days they marked everything in the store so you knew what it cost. When the stores decided to not mark anything, they said if it rang up different, they would give it to you for free. They had to do that in order for them not to mark each thing. Now they act like they don’t care and say it rings up this, if you want it, you pay this price. I told them to keep the leash. I then went to Home Depot and bought 6 feet of white rope for 9 cents a foot. It is the silky feeling rope. I used the leash clasp that was on the old leash. I taped on the rope after my husband wrapped it with this silver wire I had. I painted with puff paint I had. I put blue dots on one side of the rope and green dots on the other side of the rope.

DSC_0004rs

My son’s school colors is green and blue. I put brown x marks down both sides to match my dog. I still need to put wire around the loop handle. I think it turned out nice.

I have been watching a lot of videos on making paracord dog leashes. I bought some yellow and purple cord, but I don’t think it is the right type because it will not pull tight when I try to make the knots. I ordered a book on how to tie the cord. I watched some YouTube videos but I could not do them. They tie it so fast and only show it a couple of times and the cord I had just did not act like it would work. I also put a hold on a library book on how to do it, but it is checked out right now.

Today we went to look at used jeeps and car dealers. The ones I saw were gross and dirty. I am amazed at how dirty people have their cars. The seats are all dirty and stained. One car had a cracked windshield and it was so dirty. The dealers do not even clean them up to sell them. I would not give them a dollar for them. One had wires all hanging out and holes drilled all over the console. The seat was all broke and parts of the bottom plastic were gone. I said “Why are there so many holes all over it?” The sales guy said “They had a CB radio attached to it.” Well they must have taken that off and just left the holes all over it.

It makes me not want to buy anything used. I wanted a vehicle to tow behind our motorhome. Only a few vehicles are made to tow. I will just wait a while before I look again.

I made a really good meatloaf the other day. I did not take a picture of it. The next time I make it I will take a picture and put the recipe of how I make it on here. If anyone would like it let me know and I will post it.

Well that is all I can think of today. I think I will go watch the new Grace and Frankie shows on Netflix.

I am a little late for the weekend coffee share. Sometimes I think I have nothing to talk about so I think about it for a few days and get a pencil and paper and start writing stuff at night before bed.

So I will tell you some of the stuff that happened this week. Nothing earth shattering but I would probably talk about it if we were having coffee.

I ordered a new vegetable peeler from Amazon. It was in a package of 4 things. I also ordered a lens cap leash for my camera. You stick it on the cap and it has a string attached to elastic that fits around the lens. That way I won’t lose the cap.

Anyway I got an email that the package was delivered by the post office. It said it was left in the box and they put the key in your little box. I walked over to the post box and there was no key. The mail lady put the key in some other box.

I drove to the post office and told them they delivered my package to the wrong person. They said “It says it was delivered.” I said “Yeah it was delivered but not to me. Now someone is going to get my package and I don’t get it at all.” They didn’t even know who she gave the key to. I kept walking over and both big boxes finally had a key in it which means they picked up my package. I opened the box and it was empty so they took it. I saw the mail truck and I drove over to it and talked to the post office lady. She said yes she delivered it, she put it in the big box and left the key. I told her she did not leave the key in my box for it. She said she didn’t know she will look and see if they left her a note. I told her that no one drove the package to my house and left it at my door. She said “Well that would be against the law if they did that.” Well isn’t it against the law to deliver my package to the wrong address for her? The next morning I walked over to the mail box and looked to see if the big box was still empty. It had a key in the door so I opened it and my big box was sitting there. Someone put it back. Anybody could have walked by and opened the box and took my package. I am just glad that I got it. There are some honest people in this world.

☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕

I made the best tasting chicken yesterday. I had 2 small chicken breasts. I get a big pack of them at Sam’s Club for $1.88 a pound. I told you how I shrink wrap them and freeze this in another post. I covered the chicken all over with a new spice I got. It is this. Brown sugar and bourbon seasoning. It has a smoky hint to it.

DSCN1315u

I then got a cast iron skillet and rubbed the inside of the pan with lard. I like using lard. I don’t really like to use vegetable oil. I don’t use a lot, I just rub it on the pan with a paper towel. Then I heated the pan and put the chicken in the hot pan. I cooked each side about 5 minutes. The chicken is done when the internal temperature is 165 which destroys harmful germs.

I also looked up a recipe for macaroni and cheese in the Betty Crocker cookbook.

MACARONI AND CHEESE RECIPE:

2 cups elbow macaroni, 2 tbsp. grated onion, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, 3 cups cheese,

2 cups of thin white sauce.

So boil the macaroni in a pan of water. Make the white sauce.

2 tbsp. butter, 2 tbsp. flour, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp pepper and 2 cups of milk.

Melt the butter on low heat and then stir in the flour. Cook it and stir it for about 1 minute.

I just used my new pepper and salt grinder to put the salt and pepper in. I didn’t measure it. Then pour in the milk and stir until it boils. Let it cook for a minute after boiling and the sauce is done.

Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Drain the macaroni and then place half of it in a casserole dish. Sprinkle on half the onion, salt and pepper and put half the cheese all over it. I used medium cheddar shredded cheese and mixed Fiesta cheese that is like 5 different cheeses from Walmart. I didn’t measure it, I just put on a couple of hand fulls of cheese. Then put the rest of the macaroni, onion, salt and pepper and more cheese. I then poured the white sauce all over it and added more of the cheese. I like it cheesy. The recipe does not call for that.  Bake for 30 minutes at 375 covered. Oh yeah put some pats of butter all over the top before you bake it. After 30 minutes uncover it and bake for 15 more minutes.

It tasted SO good. I didn’t take any pictures of it. I forgot too. I was too busy going Yummmm. It made me want to go down to the fridge later and eat the left overs. I didn’t do that. We are having it for dinner again tonight. I am going to make salmon patties.

I need to go to teach my son how to make fried rice. He is taking cooking class and for the final project he has to cook something for one of his teachers. He chose fried rice. He asked how they make fried rice at Ganghis Grill and they said they use pineapple juice and soy sauce. We will have to try it to see if that is they way he wants to make it for his teacher. I bought some good soy sauce at the Asian market. The lady said to buy sweet soy sauce so I did. She said that makes the best fried rice.

Weekend coffee share 5-14-16

DSCN1235 - Copy (2) - Copysmall

Hi, I am glad you stopped by for coffee. I have a fun exciting adventure planned for us today. Before we go through the star gate we have to get suited up.

1462751066639990254

A glass helmet will be put over you face so you can breathe. We can’t stay very long on this planet we are going to go visit. It is far, far way from the sun but has the best shooting stars to watch. We go through the star gate and end up on this tiny planet. It is dark but we can see from the flash lights we have. The ground is black, like black iron and it is a little rough to walk on so be careful. Up in the sky there are shooting stars, big and full of color because we are pretty close. I hope they don’t come close to us. I didn’t think about that when I planned this trip.

We saw the stars so we went back home. I didn’t want us getting fried from a star smashing into us. Lets have coffee and I will tell you about my week.

I went to Sam’s club and they had 5 dozen eggs for $4.28. I bought them. When I got home I thought what am I going to do with 5 dozen eggs. I probably won’t eat them all but it was a really good buy at the time. That is 60 eggs so it comes out about 7 cents an egg.

Today I scrambled 4 eggs and mixed in a hand full of cheese and browned up half a tube of sausage. We (hubby and I) mixed the eggs and cheese in the sausage. I got a package of tortillas at the dollar store and heated some tortillas. We put the eggs, cheese and sausage into a tortilla and spooned a spoon of salsa over the eggs. Wrap up the tortilla and have a delicious breakfast burrito. It tasted so good.

The other day I tried making eggs in the mini rice cooker I bought. Wolfgang showed how to do it so I tried it. It did not work out so great for me. The rice cooker stopped cooking when the eggs were half way done. It would not click on for more than a few seconds to finish cooking. I took 3 eggs and put a little bit of cream and cheese in it and whipped it up. I added some bacon. You butter a piece of bread and lay it in the pot butter side down in the rice cooker. Then pour in you eggs. Cover and click on the rice cooker. I think it might do better with 2 eggs only. I put 3 in. After a while I just took it out of the rice cooker and  put it in a pan and cooked it for 10 minutes in the oven. It is not beautiful but it did taste good.

pizap.com14632538807141

I don’t think I will ever try to make it in the rice cooker again.

I got a new camera lens for my Nikon camera.

DSCN1290u

The camera came with a 50mm lens. It is a really nice lens but I could not take great far away shots with it. This is a 70-300 mm lens. It does take nice far away shots. I got it on Amazon for $112. It is used but like new condition. It even came in the original box and it looks brand new. Good enough for me to take a picture with once in a while. The forest service was burning an area about 10 miles from me. I got a picture of that.

DSC_0002u

They burn stuff so that it won’t be so bad if there is a fire. It made a lot of smoke though and the air is all smoky along the mountains now.

I went to the 99 cent store to buy some oranges because you can get a bag of 99 cents. When I was standing in line I saw Rocky Road dark chocolate candy bars. I LOVE marshmallow candy bars. I bought 6 of them because they are so hard to find. When I got home I grabbed one to eat. I noticed on the side that it said mint flavored. I do not like mint flavored chocolate very much and now I have 6 mint flavor candy bars. I ate one and the mint is not too strong but it is not my favorite. Those candy bars are going to last a long time around here.

DSCN1282.jpgu

I do have a couple of chocolate ones though. Those are my favorite. The Hershey’s special dark with almonds are really good too.

Weekend coffee share 5-7-2016

DSCN1235 - Copy (2)

Fantasy time.

If we were having coffee we would go through this star gate, all blue and spinning. Lights flashing fast all around it. Foggy air, like a cloud in the middle.

DSCN1240  A big ramp leading up to it, all covered in crushed diamonds, because you can only get through it if you walk on diamonds. “Like diamonds in the sky.”

I would have a thermos filled with cold McDonalds Frappe coffee and a pocket of Rocky Road Candy bars. (It’s a fantasy, put what ever you want in your Thermos.)  We step through the portal and end up on a beautiful beach. The sand is white and shines with sparkling crystals. The water is turquoise with gentle waves. Up in the sky is 3 moons. I say “Don’t go in the water.” Who knows what is in there. As we sit down I take out 2 cups, uncap the Thermos and pour the icy, slushy coffee into the cups. “This trip only lasts for an hour”, I say.

I have been reading this fantasy novel this week, where this ex-cop is a Fae  and people and tiny people step out of this light filled tree, who talk to him. They are from another world or plane. The book is called “Return of the High Fae” written by Tom Keller. The book inspired me to think “what if” for my start of my post.

I will tell you about some of my week. It hailed a lot yesterday. My dog started barking like crazy so we opened the front door and went outside. The sky was a dark grey and you could hear thunder. Then the hail was pouring from the sky. Little balls of ice were falling from the sky and hitting and bouncing and covering the ground. It covered the ground, the street, the driveway, the cars. It was coming down hard. I looked over at this little blue spruce tree and it was full of the ice balls that was the size of big white pearls.

DSCN12332fb

I put the picture on Facebook Kolo 8 news page to show then all the hail.

DSCN1231 (2)ufb

I then got a message from a woman named Becky from ABC World News asking if they could use the picture. I said yes they could. Today I watched Good Morning America and they had my picture up first thing talking about the hail out West. My picture was on GMA.

DSCN1265

Isn’t that neat? I am so excited they used my picture for their program.

—————————————————————–

I have one more thing to talk about. Time goes by fast while we are on this new planet.

I made Shepherd’s Pie and wanted to share with you how to make it. It is so easy and delicious. I bought the 90/10 sirloin ground beef today. I only used a half pound for this. Use a pound if you need to feed more people. I only made it to feed two.

Brown the ground beef and chopped up onion. I sprinkled on garlic salt and pepper. You need 2 cups of hot mashed potatoes. I used a package of instant potatoes. Cook that and mix up 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. and 3 ounces of cream cheese. Mix it all up. I used one cup of frozen peas and carrots and microwaved it with 2 tbsp. water. Make a package of brown gravy. It makes 1 cup but I only put in a little over 1/2 cup in the beef.

Put the gravy in the beef and then the peas and carrots. Then put the beef in a loaf pan.

DSCN1253 (2)

Put the mashed potatoes on top of the meat.

DSCN1254 (3)

Then put on 1/2 cup more of cheddar cheese. I used medium cheddar.

DSCN1256 (2)

Bake in the oven 375 degrees for 20 minutes and take it out of the oven and serve it on a plate. It is so good. My husband said to make that once a week.

DSCN1262 (2)

Yummy.

Well it is time to go. Let me know how you liked your visit and I will come visit you too.

Go to Weekendcoffeeshare here to join in.

Weekend Coffee share 4-30-2016

It is Weekend Coffee share. If we were having coffee I would tell you about different things I did this last week.

untitled

Last night I could not sleep because the cowboy song kept playing over and over in my brain.

I want to be a cowboy and you could be my cowgirl. Yippy yi  yippy yo yo. That is what keeps playing my head. Over and over and over. It is a song that I listened to the other day and it is like stuck in my brain on repeat.

I now hate that song SO much I am going to go get the flash drive I put it on to play in my car and delete it off. I hate when songs get stuck in your head. Does it do that to you too?

See I have been putting all the songs I ever had on CD’s onto my flash drive. I ran across that song and played it a lot and then I recorded myself singing that song because I wanted to see what I sounded like singing it. UGHHHHH, don’t do that if you can’t sing well.

I was at Costco the other day and they had a sale on photo books. I bought one for $12.99 and I have to go online to their photo department and load up like 45 pictures to put in that photo book. I have been going through old old cd’s that I put pictures on and searching through all my flash drives to add pictures to my computer to put in that book. That takes hours to do. The pictures are old and taken with a crappy camera so I am going to try to type the date on the picture and adjust it to not look so bad in my Corel photo program. That will take hours. I want all the pictures of my son when he was little up till now in that book. I also got 50 free pictures from Sam’s club for signing up with their photo dept.

My husband said he wanted 2 more pictures in the living room. When we would go to a National Park last year I would buy a poster in the gift shop and we framed them and put them in the living room. I have Death Valley and Canyonlands and Arches and a few more.

He wanted two more so he looked on the internet and they are expensive. I said I would look through my pictures and enlarge a couple of them. I checked Sam’s Club and they sell large pictures. I found two, one of a beautiful hot pool at Yellowstone by the Yellowstone lake and one of Flaming Gorge in Utah. They only charge $9 each for a 20″x24″ picture. I had them made and they make them so fast. In fact I put it in to make and then the lady called and said my picture was done. I had just put in it to be printed. I went and got them and they are so nice. We framed them and hung them and I think that they look better than the quality of the posters that I bought at the parks.

DSCN1199 (2).JPG

Well that is all I can think of today. Go to the link at the top of the page to join in the weekend coffee share.

————————————————————————

Sometimes I put things on Tumbler, just quick thoughts. I write them down sometimes with a picture and post them. Nobody reads them on there but this is a dream that I had the other night.

Weekend coffee share 4-16-2016

It is that time to have weekend coffee share.

Lets get some coffee made. DSC_0002u

I also have Shasta cola, (I like it better than Coke), root beer, hot cocoa. Now I have to tell you about some of the stuff I have been doing. It looks like Sirius did cancel my service like I asked them to. It seemed like they didn’t want to do it but they did. FM radio is just fine for me. I can also plug in a flash drive and play the music I like. I discovered a neat feature on my car radio. It will find a song on the flash drive. I have this flash drive that I have been putting songs on. I plugged it in and the thing has 440 songs. Wow, I didn’t know it has that many songs. It is mostly all of my son’s songs. He buys albums on Amazon with 30 songs on it. I save them after they get put on his MP3 player.

I went to Amazon and asked for free digital songs. I got one called “Stupid song.” I put it on the flash drive and I wanted to play it for my son. I started wondering how I was going to find the Stupid song. My husband asked the radio to find the “Stupid song.” He didn’t really believe me that it was really named Stupid song. Next thing I know the “Stupid song” came up and I hit play. My got in the car so I played it for him. He likes the “Stupid Song”. My husband said “That is a stupid song.” I said “Exactly.”

I saw an article about the 10 worse dog foods made. I buy Iams prolife for my dog. It is $10 for a 7 pound bag. I just bought a bag of it yesterday. I read the list of the worst 10 dog foods and there it was at number 5, on the list. “OH NO!” The first ingredient is chicken, but the second ingredient is corn. I guess that is bad for dogs. I returned the Iams dog food to the store and bought a new dog food that is on the good list. Wait I just asked if what I bought on another web site and it said what I bought is not good for dogs either. Now I am confused. I opened the bag and my dog will eat it until it is gone. It was on a good list and one other web site says it is not good. Darn.

I am knitting a new hat. I finished the red one that I made for my husband. That was real fun. (NOT). The yarn was so thick. I knitted the entire hat. Hubby tried it on and it was too big. Big and so heavy.

I unraveled the hat and made a smaller size hat. I gave it to him, it is not too big but the yarn is so thick and heavy. I told him his head will be really warm in a blizzard, possibly in Alaska or even the North Pole.

If we were having coffee, April, 8 2016.

Weekend coffee share:

Thanks for stopping by to have coffee. Let me get a cup.

I got this cup at Yellowstone. I was in the gift shop at the north end of Yellowstone. It was very crowded when I entered the gift shop. I looked all over at the hats and t-shirts and then I saw this coffee cup. I just had to have it. I drink coffee out of it everyday.

Ok …I want to tell you about these neat gloves I got. I hate cutting my fingers when I cut food with a knife. I seem to always cut myself. Then it hurts for a week. I looked on Amazon and found these No cry cut resistant gloves with level 5 protection. (See how I made it look like I was touching the flower…hehe.)

I ordered them and they sent 2 pair. The reviews say that people try to cut them but they don’t cut. I have not done that but I do wear them when I use a knife now. I also put blue nitrile gloves over them to keep them clean. I have not cut myself while wearing those. I ordered new knives on QVC the other day. They sent these really nice sharp knives with covers on them. I didn’t have on my no cut gloves because I was not cutting food. The cover was hard to slid off the big knife, so I pushed and it slid off and slid across my finger and cut that too. I learned my lesson, put the gloves on, even if sliding off the cover for the knife.

I decided to buy Basmati rice. It costs more but it tastes really good.

I have been using Jasmine rice. I made it last night. It comes out nice and fluffy and dry. The Jasmine always comes out a little sticky. My son loves rice but said he only wanted a little rice. He ended up eating a whole bowl and went back for more. I make him some teriyaki chicken. I cup up a chicken breast and cook it in a frying pan. I watched the chef at Ichiban cook it and he put soy sauce and butter and garlic on the chicken. I shake on some soy sauce while the chicken is cooking and add a tablespoon of butter and let it melt while the chicken is cooking. I sprinkle on some garlic salt and some pepper. Then I just put a splash of teriyaki sauce. Let it cook until the chicken is done. Get rice in a bowl and then put the hot chicken over the rice. I heat up about 4 tablespoons of teriyaki sauce in the microwave. My son pours it over the chicken and rice. He loves it. He told me that is his favorite food.

I love the Aroma rice cooker. It cooks rice the best. I have tried all kinds of rice cookers. Microwave rice cookers make a mess in your microwave. The stove top method in a pan is OK but it sometimes get to brown on the bottom. The Aroma cooker does it perfect. I put a cup and half of rice in the pot. Wash the rice to get the starch off. Pour in almost 3 cups of water. I put it a little under the 3 cup mark. Close the lid and click on. Wait until it pops over to warm and eat the rice.

We went to eat breakfast today at I-Hop today. I had the pancake and egg and bacon plate. I also had coffee. My husband had the same thing. The bill was $25 for breakfast. I think that is really a high price for breakfast. It is becoming really expensive to eat out at a restaurant. I used to live in Las Vegas and I would get up and go to a little bar with a café and the breakfast for 99 cents. If you wanted biscuits and gravy it was 99 cents too. Now it costs as much for breakfast as for dinner. I think I will stick to eating an egg and toast at home. I like my coffee better too, better than what they make in a restaurant. Also they give you these small coffee cups. They look like they hold 4 or 5 ounces. I saw that coffee cup today and looked, it looked like it had been shrunk down. See the cup at the top that I bought in Yellowstone,  it is like 16 ounces. Plus I like real cream in my coffee, not those tiny little containers of half and half, that is really hard to open to pour in the coffee.

It was nice of you to drop by. I hope I didn’t talk your ear off.
